Engineering recruitment in Mauritius for infrastructure and industry
Engineering recruitment in Mauritius starts with the technical decisions your new employee will own. Indian Ocean Millenium Partners, also trading as JNP Recruiting Services, sources candidates from Nepal and India for employers seeking civil, mechanical and electrical engineering skills. Define the discipline, deliverables and supervision before selecting a profile.
From Vacoas-Phoenix, our recruitment team supports consultation, sourcing, screening and placement, with document preparation and follow-up. A design assignment, a site supervision role and an industrial maintenance position need different experience. Your brief should make those differences clear to candidates and interviewers.

Which engineering roles can you recruit for Mauritius?
Structure vacancies around the work package and the level of responsibility. Closely related technical support roles can form part of the same staffing brief.
- Civil engineers. Infrastructure, drainage, structures and site coordination, with the required design or supervision responsibilities specified.
- Mechanical engineers. Plant maintenance, equipment installation and production support, matched to the machinery and processes involved.
- Electrical engineers. Power distribution, controls and building services, with clear limits on testing and commissioning duties.
- Technical support. Engineering technicians and computer-aided design (CAD) draughtspersons for drawings, records and technical coordination under the agreed supervision.
What registration and safety checks should employers make?
The Council of Registered Professional Engineers states that practising engineering without registration is an offence. Confirm the registration required for the proposed duties with CRPE and check the candidate’s current status before assigning professional responsibilities. An overseas degree or experience does not establish Mauritian registration.
For construction consultancy, check the separate firm registration requirements with the Construction Industry Authority. Electrical safety guidance from the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations calls for competent persons and safe working procedures. Include isolation arrangements, supervision and equipment risks in the employer’s induction plan.

Contact usHow do you assess candidates against your project brief?
State essential qualifications, software, equipment, reporting lines and the working language. Discuss a relevant drawing, maintenance problem or project example during interviews. Ask candidates to explain their own contribution, the checks they performed and how they reported a technical issue.
Specify site travel, planned shutdowns, shifts or on-call cover if the job requires them. Agree permanent staffing, project-based recruitment or executive search according to the assignment. Our sourcing and screening in Nepal and India follow the agreed brief; the employer evaluates technical suitability and defines decision-making authority.
Which permit route should an engineering employer consider?
A Work Permit application goes through National E-Licensing Platform (NELS); a qualifying professional may instead use an Occupation Permit. Professional registration remains a separate check. Work Permit contracts require vetting at monthly salaries of MUR 50,000 or less. The ten-year maximum stay is not an automatic ten-year Work Permit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I recruit an engineer for one project?
Project-based recruitment can be discussed against the scope and anticipated duration. Allow for professional registration checks and the applicable permit decision before confirming a start date.
Does an engineering degree replace CRPE registration?
No. Check the requirements for professional practice directly with CRPE. Academic qualifications, professional registration and immigration permission are separate matters.
Do workers pay recruitment fees?
No. Under the Private Recruitment Agencies Act 2023, workers pay no recruitment fees. The employer bears recruitment costs, including travel to and from Mauritius.
