IT Professionals Recruitment in Mauritius for Development and Operations
IT professionals recruitment in Mauritius calls for a clear account of the systems, responsibilities and skills involved. Indian Ocean Millenium Partners sources candidates from Nepal and India for businesses developing, maintaining or modernising technology. Explain what the employee will own, the team they will join and the experience your vacancy requires.
Our manpower consultancy supports candidate sourcing, screening and preparation of supporting documents. Define the technical brief alongside the employment terms and the candidate’s status, so the permit route can be checked before you plan a start date.

Which IT roles can you recruit for?
The company profile covers the following technical and project roles. Use them to distinguish development, infrastructure, security and delivery responsibilities.
- Software. Software developers and software engineers.
- Systems. System administrators for technology operations.
- Networks. Network engineers and network administrators.
- Security. Cybersecurity specialists.
- Delivery. IT project managers.
- Support and data. IT support specialists and data analysts.
For development, describe the stack and applications. For infrastructure, outline the environment and operational responsibilities. For a project manager, state the project scope and reporting arrangements. Office staffing also covers administrative assistants through to office managers; senior leadership requirements can be discussed through Executive Search.
How should you assess technical candidates?
Share essential skills, qualifications, responsibilities, pay and working arrangements. Our screening includes background checks, skill assessments, credential verification and reference checks. The technical brief guides the assessment, and your interviews help determine whether the candidate’s experience matches the systems and work involved. Separate essential requirements from skills that can be developed after joining.

Contact usWhich permit route should an employer check?
Two main ordinary employee routes are a Ministry Work Permit with residence permission, and an Occupation Permit. They are not an exhaustive list: statutory exemptions and other categories may apply. Salary alone does not decide the route; check the candidate’s status, qualifications and employment circumstances.
Current EDB guidance sets the Occupation Permit criterion for the Professional category at a basic monthly salary of at least MUR 50,000 across sectors. According to the Economic Development Board’s Occupation Permit Guidelines, qualifying existing Professional Occupation Permit holders under the earlier MUR 30,000 criterion are eligible for one renewal on that basis. This is not an ongoing exemption for every renewal.
The employer files the Professional application through National E-Licensing Platform (NELS). EDB administers the process; the Director-General of Immigration, through the Passport and Immigration Office, issues the permit following the statutory approval process. It combines work and residence permission. According to the Economic Development Board’s Occupation Permit Guidelines, the Professional Occupation Permit term is the contract duration or ten years, whichever is shorter. According to the Economic Development Board’s Occupation Permit Guidelines, submit a Professional Occupation Permit renewal application at least one month before expiry.
What differs on the ordinary Work Permit route?
The Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations administers this permit. Its current information sheet removes Permission in Principle and quota/ratio requirements. Employers must demonstrate unsuccessful local recruitment, including National Employment Department or Employment Information Centre contact and MauritiusJobs vacancy evidence.
The employer or an employee on its Contribution Sociale Généralisée (CSG) payroll list submits through NELS on the EDB business portal. Filing automatically sends the residence application to PIO. According to the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations’ Work Permit Information Sheet, monthly salaries of MUR 50,000 or less require a vetted employment contract; above that, the employer supplies salary evidence.
For professional accommodation cases, the checklist uses accommodation letters. Covered dormitories require a Lodging Accommodation Permit or a letter showing that the LAP procedure has begun. According to the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations’ Work Permit Information Sheet, Work Permit renewals should be submitted three months before expiry, using the actual validity on the permit. Processing times are set by the authorities.
Frequently asked questions
Does a technology title automatically qualify for a Professional OP?
No. The title alone is insufficient. Check the Professional criteria, employment circumstances and any applicable status exemption before selecting the route.
Can a Work Permit holder move to another employer?
The new employer must apply on NELS with the former employer’s no-objection letter and obtain a new Work Permit before transfer. Professional OP holders have a separate employment-change process.
Who pays recruitment costs?
The Private Recruitment Agencies Act places recruitment costs, including travel to and from Mauritius, on the employer. Under the Private Recruitment Agencies Act 2023, workers must not pay recruitment fees.
