Office and administration recruitment in Mauritius for your business
Office and administration recruitment in Mauritius works best when the brief describes the daily workflow. Indian Ocean Millenium Partners sources administrative assistants, office managers and related support staff from Nepal and India. Specify the records, people and deadlines each role must coordinate, alongside the level of autonomy expected.
Our Vacoas-Phoenix team coordinates consultation, sourcing, screening, placement documents and follow-up. Mauritius has an established services and business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, as described by the Economic Development Board (EDB). Local reception and overseas client support need different languages, schedules and working practices.

Which office and administration roles can you recruit?
Pair each title with tasks: responsibilities vary between employers.
- Administrative assistants. Correspondence, diary coordination, filing, purchase paperwork and routine reporting within your approval procedures.
- Office managers. Coordination of office operations, suppliers, facilities requests and administrative teams, with spending authority clearly defined.
- Receptionists and secretaries. Visitor reception, telephone handling, meeting arrangements and document preparation for the languages your workplace uses.
- Data entry clerks and document controllers. Accurate record updates, document tracking and version control using the systems named in your brief.
How do you assess language and software skills?
Identify the English and French tasks required: telephone calls, emails, minutes or customer queries. Test those tasks during selection rather than assuming language ability from nationality. Include Mauritian Creole only where relevant to the work, and assess the actual candidate’s ability.
Ask for a spreadsheet exercise, a short email or a document filing task using fictional information. Check accuracy, judgement and the ability to follow instructions, alongside speed. State the software, reporting formats and escalation rules. Our sourcing and screening follow the brief agreed with you; your interviews establish fit with the office.

Contact usWhat should employers plan for confidentiality and working hours?
The Data Protection Office explains that organisations handling personal data must follow data protection principles. Define access to employee files, customer records and shared folders before arrival. Include confidentiality procedures in induction, use fictional data for recruitment tests and show staff where to report a mistaken disclosure.
State normal hours, month-end workload and any shifts serving clients in other time zones. For temporary cover, prepare a handover and name a supervisor. Apply the workplace risk assessment to screen work, seating, cables and file handling. Set clear breaks, reporting routes and responsibilities for equipment and access.
Which Work Permit steps should an office employer check?
An ordinary Work Permit application is filed through National E-Licensing Platform (NELS). An Occupation Permit may be relevant to a professional who meets its criteria; a job title alone does not establish eligibility. Work Permit contracts require vetting at monthly salaries of MUR 50,000 or less. Use the actual permit expiry date when planning employment.
Frequently asked questions
Can you help with temporary administrative cover?
Temporary staffing and permanent recruitment can be discussed against the vacancy. Give the cover dates, handover needs and approval responsibilities, allowing time for the applicable authorisations.
Can I assume a candidate speaks French?
No. Explain the spoken and written tasks and assess them directly. A candidate’s country of origin is not evidence of language proficiency.
Do workers pay recruitment fees?
No. Under the Private Recruitment Agencies Act 2023, workers pay no recruitment fees. The employer bears recruitment costs, including travel to and from Mauritius.
